Shaw’s/Star Market Run Sweepstakes on Red Sox Radio Network

Shaw's and Star Market supermarkets have reteamed with Entercom Communications, WEEI Sports Radio and the Red Sox Radio Network on the "Youth League to Big League Sweepstakes," an in-store campaign offering the New England banners' customers a chance to win prizes during baseball season.

Running through Aug. 13, the sweepstakes will reward one customer per week for buying participating products. Customers who purchase five participating items in a single transaction are eligible to win an invitation to watch Boston Red Sox batting practice on the field, announce batters during a broadcast, get their name displayed on the Jumbotron or take a VIP tour of the ballpark.

"Having been part of the local community for more than 150 years, we appreciate the value that New Englanders place on tradition," noted Jim Rice, president of West Bridgewater, Mass.-based Shaw's and Star Market, which also sponsor Youth League teams throughout the region. "WEEI and the Red Sox Radio Network are part of the fabric of this great sports city."

"The Youth League to Big League Sweepstakes is just one more example of the synergy between Shaw’s and Star Market supermarkets, WEEI, and the Red Sox Radio Network," said Phil Zachary, VP and market manager for Entercom New England, part of Philadelphia-based Entercom Communications Corp., the fourth-largest radio broadcasting company in the United States.

The sweepstakes are open only to legal residents of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont and Rhode Island who are at least 18 years old at the time of entry.

A subsidiary of Albertsons, Shaw's and Star Market operate a combined 155 store locations employing about 18,500 associates.
