Albertson's LLC Blends Style and Sustainability with Reusable Shopping Bags

Albertson's LLC is looking to blend style and sustainability with its new special-edition Dallas Cowboy Jason Witten reusable shopping totes.

The new totes, which are provided by Ecoture by Ivie and retail for $1.99, were designed as an enhancement to the grocer's "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" customer-education campaign, which includes in-store plastic bag recycling for shoppers, reminders to bring in the reusable bags from the car, and a continued commitment to reduce plastic consumption throughout the store. Albertson's LLC said that last year it recycled over 1.7 million pounds of plastic and over 35 tons of cardboard.

"Our customers are becoming more aware of environmental issues, but often the plain bags are left at home or forgotten in the car, which negates their usefulness," said Bob Butler, s.v.p. of marketing. "We're offering more than the usual generic bag with just a company logo on it. These totes are fun and something our customers can be proud to carry."

Eighty-four Albertsons stores throughout Texas will offer the bags, which come in two different styles. A portion of each sale will be donated to the Jason Witten Score Foundation which funds organizations that help or who have programs for children who have been impacted by domestic violence.

Albertson's, LLC operates over 250 stores under the Albertson's banner in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Texas.
