A&P May Be Selling New Orleans Division

MONTVALE, N.J. -- A&P may be trying to sell its New Orleans Division, according to a report in The Star-Ledger.

The Newark, N.J.-based newspaper cited industry consultant Burt P. Flickinger III, managing director, at Strategic Resource Group in New York, who said A&P is actively shopping its 24 A&P and Sav-A-Center stores in the region, along with a distribution center. Flickinger estimates the sale could generate $50 million, but that it would be hard to find a buyer.

A&P recently sold its New England division and stores in Wisconsin in an effort to raise funds. It is also reportedly shopping its Eight O'Clock Coffee business.
