Brookshire’s Banners Roll Out ‘Shop & Save Bonus Days,’ Free Antibiotics

Brookshire Grocery Co.’s (BGC) Brookshire’s Food & Pharmacy stores are offering customers the chance to save up to 20 percent off their grocery bill when they spend $700 between Feb. 17 and March 23.

The promotion is part of the company’s “Shop & Save Bonus Days” program, which also offers savings for 5 percent, 10 percent and 15 percent off when customers spend $200, $300 and $500, respectively.

Customers may also earn an additional 20 percent-off coupon during the promotion if they spend an additional $700 during the promotion. Certain purchases are excluded, such as stamps, store gift cards and fuel.

In other BGC news, the grocer’s Super 1 Foods Discount Pharmacy has begun a free antibiotics program today that will last for several months.

According to the grocer’s VP of pharmacy operations, Jim Cousineau, the offer is good for generic brands such as cephalexin and ciprofloxacin, as well as amoxicillin and ampicillin. “In all, we’ll have dozens of common antibiotics in specified or limited quantities that will be available with a prescription at zero cost,” he said.

The program will be available at 24 Super 1 Foods grocery stores that operate a pharmacy. “Our goal in this initiative is to help reduce the financial burden on patients who need these medications,” said Cousineau. “It’s part of our total commitment to the health and well being of customers and their families.”

Super 1 Foods Discount Pharmacy offers more than 400 generic drugs with no insurance limitations, and a three-tiered plan with 30, 60 and 90-day options.

Tyler, Texas-based BGC operates 153 stores in four states — Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Mississippi — with three distribution centers and seven manufacturing facilities.
