German Supermarket Offers Wedding Packages

GERMANY - A German discount chain is offering complete wedding packages to its customers for 1,500 pounds ($2,417), according to a published report.

Shoppers at Plus chain stores, which are owned by A&P's parent company, the Tengelmann Group, can buy a wedding for up to 18 guests.

Company spokeswoman Nicole Dinter told the Berliner Kurier newspaper couples won't be able to get married at the store. Instead, the package allows them to pick one of 100 hotels across Germany for their ceremony.

A champagne reception, wedding cake, coffee, buffet food and music until 2 a.m. are also part of the package. Bridal gown, bouquets and a honeymoon trip to Venice can all be booked for an additional charge.

The package also includes contingency insurance coverage in case the bride or the groom fails to show up.
