Giant, Tops, Martin's Offering Free Diabetic Kits to Consumers

CARLISLE, Pa -- For National Diabetes Month, and to teach people about diabetes, Ahold USA banners Giant Food Stores, LLC; Tops Markets; and Martin's Food Markets are distributing a total of 43,000 diabetic kits to consumers across their more than 240 locations. The kits will be available to customers through the month of November, while supplies last.

Each kit contains more than a $40 value in coupons, rebates, and samples of health care products carried in the HBC department of all the banners' locations. Among the items offered are a $10-off coupon for Homedics Monitors; a$5 rebate on Omron Monitors; a CareOne Bonusbuck; CareOne Lip Balm; CareOne Sugar Free Cough Drops; a Bayer aspirin sample; a $2 coupon for the NatureMade Diabetes Health Pack; Glucerna samples and coupons; Lubriderm, DiabetiDerm, and Alphabetic vitamin samples; and coupons on various diabetic set items, including Diabetic Tussin and Multi-betic Vitamins.

Consumers have the benefit of coupons from the diabetic kit, as well as Bonus Buy savings at the store level. "Not only can we meet the needs of our diabetic consumers, we can offer lower prices than our drug store competitors for many of the same products," noted v.p. for pharmacy Leigh Shirley. "Our professional and knowledgeable pharmacists can provide the most up-to-date information and point out to consumers our full assortment of diabetes-related products, including CareOne, our corporate brand."

Added Jodie Daubert, v.p. for GM, HBC, and fuel, "We hope that customers will come to think of us as the smart alternative to the conventional drug store by offering everything they need, all in one place."

Giant currently operates 103 stores as Giant Food Stores, 114 stores as Tops Markets, and 27 stores as Martin's Food Markets. With nearly 38,000 associates, Giant serves a six-state market area.
