HEB Sponsors Healthy Kids Expo to Address Family Wellness

SAN ANTONIO -- More than 7,000 people attended the first Healthy Baby & Child Expo, an event co-sponsored by H.E. Butt Grocery Co., here over the weekend.

The event, also co-sponsored by Baptist Health System, was designed to promote healthy families through interactive activities, seminars, product displays, giveaways, and entertainment. It was held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center on Saturday, March 4 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., and Sunday March 5 from noon to 6 p.m.

HEB plans to hold the event annually, a spokeswoman told Progressive Grocer yesterday. "It was a major success, with over 7,000 in attendance," she said.

Attendees participated in the Huggies Diaper Derby, learned how to cook healthy food and make tasty snacks for children, sampled food in the HEB kitchen, explored HEB's new line of baby products, and visited the Fisher Price "Toy Island."

Parents also had the opportunity to visit the Baptist Health System "Birthing Center," get a free sonogram, receive free spa treatments, learn about breastfeeding and breast pumping, receive free body fat index results from professional fitness trainers from Baptist Health System, and more.
