Hit the Sauce

Pierce’s Bar-B-Que near Williamsburg, Va., has been one of the United States’ top barbeque destinations since 1971, but consumers can now re-create that signature flavor at home with “Doc” Pierce’s Bar-B-Que Sauce, named for the restaurant’s founder. The two varieties are Original, a thick, rich, tomato-based sauce that complements pork, beef, chicken or seafood, and Honey, which offers a little extra sweetness. As well as being applied to grilled foods, the sauces can be added to baked beans or used straight from the bottle as a dipping sauce for hush puppies and French fries. The product is currently exhibiting at the 55th Summer Fancy Food Show in New York. The suggested retail price is $4.99 for a 17.5-ounce bottle.
