Loblaw Saves Trees, Will Plant More

Loblaw Companies, Ltd., Canada’s largest food distributor, is working with Tree Canada, the country’s largest tree planting organization, to reduce its environmental impact, designing and printing smaller flyers in a gesture that will save 5,200 metric tons of paper and more than 82,000 trees destined for paper mills each year.

Next spring, Loblaw will continue its preservation efforts in conjunction with Tree Canada by planting 82,332 trees across Canada in five regions: Atlantic, Quebec, Ontario, Prairies and British Columbia.

In addition to food distribution, Loblaw is a provider of general merchandise, drugstore and financial products and services. The company has a portfolio of store formats across the country and is one of the largest private-sector employers in Canada, employing over 140,000 full-time and part-time employees.
