Loeb Canada Opens New Neighborhood Market

OTTAWA, Ontario – Loeb Canada, Inc., a subsidiary of Metro, Inc., a leader in the Canadian food and pharmaceutical distribution industry, with annual sales of more than $5.5 billion, opened a new 40,000-square-foot supermarket today in the nearby town of Nepean.

"The new store design reflects our objective of being the best neighborhood supermarket in Ottawa by providing our customers top-quality perishables, great value, and superior customer service," said Eric R. La Fleche, president of Loeb Canada, Inc. "We look forward to welcoming the residents of Ottawa to our new store."

The store has been designed to offer customers value and a wide selection of choices for their grocery shopping needs. The space allocated to fresh products is significant, with added services such as a ready-to-eat and ready-to-heat meals section, service meat and fish counters, a large in-store bakery, deli and cheese departments, and an expansive fresh fruit and vegetables department.

The store will also feature a complete selection of private label products under the names Merit Selection, Irresistible, RedGrill-branded triple A Canadian beef, and Loeb Bakery Shoppe.

A new feature of Loeb Chapman Mills Market is the addition of a coffee bar, allowing customers the opportunity to enjoy a cup of java while they shop. The section serves coffee from Francesco's Coffee Co., a local Ottawa-based coffee roaster whose products are also available through its retail outlet in Westboro.
