OTA Bows Blog

A new resource that shows frugal consumers how to save while buying organic items comes from the Organic Trade Association (OTA), which has launched a blog as an extension of its website, www.OrganicItsWorthIt.org.

"Offering money-saving tips and information about the multiple benefits of choosing organic, our Savvy Organic Shopper reveals the true value of organic purchases," noted Christine Bushway, executive director and CEO of Greenfield, Mass.-based OTA. "This blog helps debunk the notion that organic products are too costly to include in your shopping basket."

Along with such basic shopping tips as as buying in bulk, shopping in season, checking out private label products, and visiting farm stands and farmers' markets, the blog provides real-world findings gleaned by its Savvy Organic Shopper (SOS) for some of the hottest deals on organic items in the marketplace, including supermarkets, local farmers’ markets and online.

Blog postings will offer price comparisons at a range of venues at a particular time and explain why shoppers should buy particular organic products. There will also be regularly posted updates on the latest deals.

According to Bushway: "Too often, consumers are under the impression that organic products are too costly for them to purchase. This blog will give them the chance to take a real look at the value and affordability of specific organic products at various times, and encourage families to bring organic into their homes in a way that makes sense for their pocketbooks.”

Consumers can sign up to get regular blog updates by clicking on the RSS feed on the site, at www.organicitsworthit.org/blog/feed.
