Topco Associates Acquires BrainTree Sourcing
SKOKIE, Ill. -- Topco Associates has acquired BrainTree Sourcing, a company that specializes in the procurement of Not-For-Resale ("NFR") goods and services, from Ahold USA.
The Braintree, Mass.-based BrainTree was originally formed to manage NFR expenditures of certain Ahold retail units and, in the process, became one of the world's largest purchasers of NFR products.
As a result of the acquisition, terms of which were not disclosed, a new company, TopSource LLC, has been formed as a wholly owned subsidiary of Topco Associates, through which all future NFR activities will be conducted. The acquisition -- which includes Topco's equipment and supplies and business services programs, as well as the existing customer base of BrainTree -- provides Topco the ability to go to market with significantly increased volume and leverages the combined category expertise and talent of both organizations.
As the company integrates these two businesses, BrainTree's current management team, led by Nancy McDermott, s.v.p. and Dave Picarillo v.p., will remain in place and become responsible for the combined TopSource business unit.
