Wal-Mart Appoints S.V.P. of Product Development

BENTONVILLE, Ark. - Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. has appointed Karen Stuckey s.v.p. of product development for Wal-Mart Stores, USA, as of July 12. Stuckey was previously group president, Sara Lee branded apparel casualwear and emerging business for Sara Lee Corp. She will report to Claire Watts, e.v.p. merchandising for Wal-Mart Stores, USA.

"We are pleased to add Karen Stuckey's expertise to our Wal-Mart team," said Mike Duke, president and c.e.o. of Wal-Mart Stores, USA. "Karen's strong and diverse retail background and prior product development experience will no doubt help us continue our success in the private brand arena."

Stuckey will oversee the design, quality standards, and positioning of Wal-Mart's private brands in general merchandise for all U.S. Wal-Mart stores, supercenters and Neighborhood Markets.

In addition to Sara Lee, which she joined in 1997 as v.p. of merchandising for the Just My Size Clothing Co., Stuckey has also held management positions at Cato Corp., Montgomery Ward, Target Corp., and Charles A. Stevens.
