Weis Rolls Out ‘Price Freeze III’

Weis Markets has implemented a third 90-day price freeze on 2,600 of its staple items, including private label and brand-name products in center store, frozen, dairy, produce, meat, deli and bakery

“Given the current economic environment, our Price Freeze program continues to make sense for our customers,” said David J. Hepfinger, Weis Markets’ president/CEO. “In many of the markets we serve, the unemployment rate continues to increase. Our Price Freeze program has produced tangible savings for our customers over the past seven months.”

Since its initial rollout in January, the program has helped customers save more than $11 million, according to Hepfinger.

The Sunbury, Pa.-based chain will highlight the program in-store with signage and its in-store radio ads. Customers will also see special Price Freeze shelf tags on participating items. The 154-store retailer will further support “Price Freeze III” via a front-page flap in its weekly print circular in 40 daily newspapers throughout its five-state marketing area, as well as though advertisements on outdoor billboards.
