Winn-Dixie, Shell Expand Fuel Rewards

Customers who shop at any of Winn-Dixie’s 54 New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette-area stores in Louisiana and use the new Customer Reward Card (CRC) will earn fuel savings at participating Shell stations through the fuelperks! Rewards program. This expansion, which began yesterday, is part of the Jacksonville, Fla.-based grocer’s ongoing partnership with fuelperks! provider Excentus Corp.

For every $50 in qualified purchases customers make using their new CRC at Winn-Dixie stores, they will receive a five-cents-per-gallon fuel savings redeemable at more than 125 Shell stations. Additionally, fuelperks! Rewards are stackable, which means the more shoppers spend, the more they earn. For example, if a customer spends $100, he or she earns 10 cents per gallon, if he or she spend $150, he or she earn 15 cents per gallon, etc.

As part of the program, the CRC has been redesigned to include a magnetic strip on the back, similar to a debit or credit card. The new card is required to earn and redeem fuelperks! Rewards, according to Winn-Dixie.

“We invite shoppers to go to their neighborhood Winn-Dixie to sign up for their new Customer Reward Card and begin earning fuelperks! Rewards today,” said Joey Medina, the grocery chain’s New Orleans region VP. “Customers in our Jacksonville and Panama City, Fla., markets, where we are currently running this program, have already saved more than $4.6 million on gas with fuelperks! Rewards.”

Dan Little, Shell North America fuels marketing manager, added, “With 54 Winn-Dixie stores and more than 125 conveniently located participating Shell stations, it’s never been easier for consumers to save on Shell Nitrogen Enriched Gasolines, including the premium gasoline, Shell V-Power.”

In other Excentus news, Highlands Override Inc., a Dallas-based network of retailers that offer fuel discounts based on purchases, is transitioning its operations to Excentus Corp., which in addition to the fuelperks! Rewards program provides private label fuel rewards technology and services.

During the transition and integration, Irving, Texas-based Excentus intends to support the existing Override program without service interruption as agreed with Override’s participants.

“We believe Override’s decision further strengthens our place as the clear market leader through providing our successful fuelperks! program and the breadth of our fuel rewards systems and service offerings,” said Dickson Perry, chairman and CEO of Excentus.

“The opportunity to provide business and program continuity to Override’s retail participants is a real privilege; we are hopeful and optimistic that we can establish a long-term relationship with all of these retailers within our fuelperks! reward program or through a private label program relationship,” added Excentus EVP and general manager Brandon Logsdon.
