ShopRite of Lyndhurst Names New In-store Dietitian

Inserra Supermarkets has hired Nicholas Vessichelli as its new in-store registered dietitian at ShopRite of Lyndhurst in New Jersey. In his new role, Vessichelli will guide the store’s extensive nutrition services for customers.

“Nick has a strong background in medical nutrition therapy and will be a valuable resource to our shoppers and associates alike,” said Lindsey Inserra, VP of marketing and corporate retail health and wellness at the grocer, a member of the Wakefern Food Corp. retailer cooperative. “We have infused wellness strategies into our daily operations at Inserra, and continue to expand our offerings to further help shoppers and their families reach their wellness goals.”

As an in-store nutrition resource for customers, Vessichelli will conduct one-on-one counseling and develop community outreach. He will also offer a range of free store-based events each month, including a weekly walking club, product demos, weight management classes and health screenings, in addition to hosting cooking classes for adults and teenagers for a small fee.

Before joining Inserra, Vessichelli was a dietetic intern at New York’s New York Presbyterian Hospital, where he provided medical nutrition therapy and delivered nutrition education to patients, among other duties. He’s a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, New York State Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, National Organization of Men and Nutrition, and Medical Nutrition Practice Group.

Mahwah, N.J.-based Inserra owns and operates 22 ShopRite stores in New Jersey and New York. The company currently has registered dietitians in 15 of its stores. ShopRite’s registered dietitians also serve as guest speakers/instructors at health-and-wellness events held by local organizations.
