Jewel Trumpets Guac Nation With Avocados From Mexico

Retailer scores big with in-store effort

Jewel-Osco’s produce sales and merchandise manager Scott Bennett (2nd, right), and Avocados From Mexico's Maggie Bezart-Hall, Alvaro Luque and Tanya Edwards.

Jewel-Osco created a highly successful merchandising program to promote avocados during the recent football season via a creative partnership with Irvine, Texas-based Avocados from Mexico.

Featuring multiple eye-catching and innovative displays for bulk avocados and fresh guacamole, Jewel added its own touch by incorporating a fiesta-themed environment.

The centerpiece of its comprehensive Big Game merchandising efforts focused on creating in-store theater by bringing its fresh-made Guacamole out of the backroom via new refrigerated guacamole stations that are being tested in 17 of its Chicago-area stores.

In addition, displays and merchandising showcased AFM’s national shopper program – Guac Nation – which includes a partnership with Old El Paso. Running from December 26, 2016 to February 5, 2017, Guac Nation offered a full spectrum of support while leveraging the excitement of Big Game festivities and get-togethers to highlight delicious snacks and party foods featuring fresh Avocados From Mexico and Old El Paso.
