3 New England Indies Upgrade POS Systems

Harvest Market, Vista Foods and Sully’s Superette, all independent grocers in New Hampshire and Vermont owned and operated by Associated Grocers of New England (AGNE), have upgraded their POS systems to Dumac’s RORCv6 better manage operations ranging from cash management to ecommerce.

Designed for independent grocers, the system from the Syracuse, N.Y.-based provider of POS solutions, helps the retailers balance their safes, improving the accuracy of balancing cash in a store’s safe at the end of a shift. The streamlined approach reduces the time required when changing shifts and virtually eliminates counting errors.

Additionally, the new system has integrated with Rosie’s ecommerce platform, which recently rolled out at Sully’s Goffstown and Allentown, N.H., locations. It also has enabled all three grocers to easily establish promotions and specials through the system’s promotion management tool.

“RORCv6 gives us the ability to set up and create promotions that we couldn’t before,” said Bob Fitzpatrick, store manager of Vista Foods in Laconia, N.H. “We also can now include some types of pricing that wasn’t previously available, making it easier for us to run advertising on register receipts. If we want to place advertising on receipts, all we do is walk to the back office and set it up on the computer. It’s as simple as a click of the mouse.”

Along with enhancing operations at each store, RORCv6 provides important benefits to AGNE at a corporate level.

“We use RORCv6 to automate all sales reporting for each of our six stores,” said Nancy Pierce, retail bookkeeping manager, AGNE. “The system automatically sends sales reports to store managers and helps facilitate the flow of information throughout the organization.”

Pierce adds that RORCv6 positions AGNE stores for the future by serving as a solid, robust platform that will enable the easy roll out of new solutions and technologies. For example, DUMAC is currently working with AGNE to integrate its accounting software into RORCv6 so that real-time sales reporting from all six stores goes directly into the system.

Pembroke, N.H.-headquartered Associated Grocers of New England Inc. is the largest retailer-owned, wholesale grocery distribution center In New England and a full-service, single-source supplier from Maine to Maryland for neutral, organic and specialty products.
