Amazon Brings Grocery Delivery to Bay Area, South Fla.

Amazon.com this week has added several cities in the San Francisco Bay Area and South Florida to the list of regions where it now delivers groceries to members of its Prime subscription program.

In the Bay Area, the Seattle-based ecommerce behemoth now delivers groceries from Sprouts Farmers Market stores to residents in the East Bay from Hayward to Richmond, including Berkeley and Oakland, via its Prime Now service, which offers one-hour delivery for $7.99 and free two-hour delivery. Prime members can complete their grocery shopping from Sprouts, including seasonal and organic produce, fresh meat and seafood, ice cream, natural vitamins and body care products.

In South Florida, Amazon is now servicing Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Miramar, Miami Gardens, Coral Gables, Hialeah, Westchester and Kendall via its AmazonFresh service, the Sun-Sentinel newspaper of South Florida reported. Prime members may order items such as fresh fruits and vegetables, meat and seafood, baked goods, dairy products, prepared foods, baby care items, and personal care products, all stocked at Amazon’s Miami-Dade distribution center. AmazonFresh offers same- or next-day delivery, allowing for orders to be placed in the morning and delivered in the evening, or placed in the evening and delivered the following morning.

Subscriptions to Amazon Prime cost $99 annually, or $10.99 a month, with the first 30 days of the annual subscription free. However, to order groceries via AmazonFresh, Prime members must pay a $14.99 add-on per month after a free 30-day trial.
