Costco Brings Grocery Delivery to Tampa

Costco Wholesale Corp. and third-party grocery delivery service Shipt have partnered to deliver orders from the Issaquah, Wash.-based club store chain to residents in the Tampa, Fla., metropolitan area.

Through the Birningham, Ala.-based service's mobile app, members will be able to shop a full selection of consumables offered, note any preferences, choose a one-hour delivery window, and pay for their order. Shipt connects members with a community of shoppers who hand-pick their items and delivery them as soon as one hour after order placement.

Tampa-area residents will be able to try Shipt for free for two weeks and receive $15 off their first order. Afterward, they can become members for an annual fee of $99, providing unlimited free deliveries.

The addition is one of many strategic growth initiatives Shipt has planned for 2017. By forging new alliances with national and regional retailers, launching in new metros and expanding service areas in existing markets, the company has plans to offer its services in 50 markets and to more than 30 million household by year’s end.

Leading up to the launch, Shipt plans to grow its network of Shoppers and identify opportunities to support community organizations throughout Florida.
