Instacart Debuts in Indianapolis

Instacart has expanded to Indianapolis, its 17th city.

Customers can order from Whole Foods Market, Costco (no membership needed), Marsh Supermarkets, Georgetown Market and Petco stores and have everything delivered in as little as one hour.

Instacart received “tremendous demand” for grocery delivery from the Indianapolis community and high interest from the retail partners there, according to Apoora Mehta, founder and CEO of the company. 

The initial delivery area in Indianapolis covers Downtown Indianapolis, Broad Ripple, Meridian Kessler, Washington Township, Nora and Carmel. As part of its launch in Indianapolis, Instacart will be making deliveries from the Shopper Chopper, a giant motorized street-legal shopping cart.

New customers who open an account get free delivery on their first order of $10 or more. Most customers select two-hour delivery for a charge of $3.99. One-hour delivery is also available, for $5.99. The minimum order size is $10. An annual membership that eliminates delivery fees for all orders of $35 or more costs $99.
