Meijer Curbside Expands to 8 More Stores

After six months of solid growth with more than 75 percent of weekly orders coming from repeat customers, Meijer is expanding its click-and-collect program beyond its pilot location.

Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Meijer is bringing Meijer Curbside to eight additional stores in Michigan and Ohio. The convenient shopping service, retooled based on customer response, rolled out earlier this year at Meijer’s Knapp's Corner store in Grand Rapids.

Starting this week, customers of the Cascade (Grand Rapids) and Ann Arbor Meijer stores are able to shop online and pick up their groceries curbside without leaving their vehicles. Meijer Curbside will also be offered at Meijer stores in Jenison and Canton, Mich., later this year, and in Dayton, Ohio, at the Kettering, Miami Township, Englewood and Beavercreek locations by early next year.

“Our customers are always looking for ways to maximize their time and we're delighted to expand Meijer Curbside in Michigan and Ohio,” said Michael Ross, VP of digital shopping and customer marketing. “We believe the combination of listening to our customers’ needs and providing a convenient digital shopping solution provides customers with time to do other things.”

Customers place orders online and select a preferred pick-up time between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily. For orders of one to 12 items, customers can pick them up in as little as one hour. For orders of 13 or more items, customers can schedule pickup in about three hours. Orders can be placed up to three days in advance.

The program will be duplicated at the new stores where Meijer Curbside will be offered, including waiving the service fee for 30 days. Following the initial phase, the service will cost $4.95 per order.

Meijer operates 222 supercenters and grocery stores throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Wisconsin.
