Newport Avenue Market Launches Apple Pay

Newport Avenue Market, a single-store grocer in Bend, Ore., is keeping up with the latest tech trends by deploying Apple Pay as a secure payment option for shoppers.

Apple Pay lets customers pay for their purchases using contactless payment technology and unique security features built into Apple devices. With a single touch, shoppers can pay for groceries using their iPhone 6, Apple Watch or iPad.

“We’re always trying to keep up with the latest technology trends, think of innovative ways to keep our customers happy, and maintain that great shopping experience that Newport Avenue Market offers,” said Lauren G.R. Johnson, COO of Newport Avenue Market. It's one of the only single independent stores in the country to offer this service, she added.

Over the last few years, the grocer has invested more than $2.5 million dollars in new technologies, lessening the store’s carbon footprint and creating a carefree shopping experience for guests. Other recent tech additions include electronic shelf tags, self-checkout and state-of-the-art refrigeration cases designed to use 70 percent less energy.
