Peapod Contest Calls for Brooklyn-Inspired Truck Designs

Grocery delivery service Peapod has launched the Brooklyn Inspired Truck Contest, an open competition for all artists – trained professionals and students to doodlers – to have their artwork featured on a fleet of Peapod delivery trucks dedicated to the New York market.

The Ahold USA subsidiary has always believed that it has to maintain strong relationships with the communities it serves to best serve its customers. With communities in Brooklyn, where it debuted in 2015, the service has particularly been inspired by how defining the strong artistic presence is.

“We want to celebrate with our customers in their unique communities,” said Jennifer Carr-Smith, Peapod president. “What better way to thank Brooklyn for welcoming us than to connect with its thriving art community to share their creativity with the entire city. We know the wide pool of talent in Brooklyn and across Peapod's markets will create some incredible artwork to be featured on our trucks."

All submissions must celebrate Brooklyn and the food the trucks will carry, but artists have the creative license to interpret that as they see fit. Artwork can be submitted through May 3 at FromthePod.com. On May 5, Peapod will announce the 10 semifinalists, after which customers and fans will be able to vote online through May 12 for the five winning artists. The winning artists’ artwork will be featured on the trucks beginning in June, and the artist who receives the most votes will receive a year’s supply of groceries.

Skokie, Ill.-based Peapod is available in 24 markets across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. It also operates more than 200 pickup locations.
