Price Chopper, Intesource Renew Procurement Partnership

Golub Corp./Price Chopper Supermarkets has renewed its partnership with Intesource, an e-sourcing services provider for grocers, retailers and restaurants. An Intesource customer since 2006, the Schenectady, N.Y.-based supermarket chain uses Intesource's managed sourcing capabilities and suite of tools to boost operational efficiency and find savings across the supply chain.

"Intesource has been an invaluable procurement partner for 10 years now, helping us make informed sourcing decisions throughout every step of the process," said David Golub, SVP of e-commerce and government relations at Price Chopper. "Intesource's consultative approach and deep knowledge of the grocery retail industry helps us tackle challenges unique to our organization and consistently capture millions in real dollar savings."

Intesource helps Price Chopper proactively analyze and find the best suppliers according to quality, service and price. This managed service approach has resulted in considerable savings across a range of categories, including 60 percent on pharmacy products, 61 percent on construction services and 55 percent on reloadable gift cards, the company said.

"Beyond driving operational efficiency and cutting costs, a strategic approach to sourcing can help the best-performing grocers enhance vendor relationships, increase quality and find new sources of supply," said Brian Miller, VP of services at Intesource. "By knowing which suppliers, products, services, prices and contract terms are available, grocery retailers can be better equipped to deliver an experience that resonates with consumers and maximize the value they generate through sourcing."
