Shipt Expands in N.C.

Third-party grocery delivery provider Shipt will start servicing residents of Asheville, Greensboro and Winston-Salem, N.C., beginning at the end of the month.

The Birmingham, Ala.-based service’s delivery to Asheville residents will begin Feb. 28, while delivery to the other two areas will start March 2. In total, Shipt will serve five metros in the state, comprising more than 1.5 million households.

Residents can purchase an annual Shipt membership for $99, then, through the Shipt app, shop the full selection of groceries offered at a local store, note any preferences, choose a one-hour delivery window and pay for the order. Shipt’s own community of shoppers hand-pick every item for delivery in as soon as one hour after the order is placed.

Members have access to free delivery for orders more than $35. Additionally, to celebrate the North Carolina expansion of Shipt, annual members who sign up prior to the service launches will receive $25 off their first grocery order.

Leading up to launch, Shipt plans to grow its network of shoppers, who are responsible for ensuring complete, accurate order fulfillments.
