Southeastern Grocers Enhances Analytics Capabilities

Southeastern Grocers (SEG) has commenced a long-term partnership with Chicago-based data and analytics firm IRI to leverage analytics to better serve its existing shoppers while attracting new ones.

The Jacksonville, Fla.-based grocery chain will use IRI as its preferred provider for market-measurement services, which provide SEG and its supplier partners a common view of their business performance in comparison with the rest of the market’s. IRI’s Unify visualization capabilities on the IRI Liquid Data technology platform incorporate extensive product movement and causal data – which include weather, gas and macroeconomic factors – and will help SEG and its suppliers collaborate more easily and make better decisions to benefit customers. Additionally, SEG’s loyalty card and supply chain data will be integrated into the Liquid Data platform and fused with real-time analytics to put the consumer at the center of every marketing campaign.

SEG will use the IRI Liquid Data platform and its Unify visualization capabilities to integrate and report transaction, loyalty card, promotional and other data sources through a single platform across all of SEG’s retail formats. This web-based platform, called the SEG Collaborative Gateway, will allow SEG and its supplier partners to access intuitive, flexible and fast insights for joint business planning.

In addition, IRI’s Jacksonville-based client service teams will support suppliers’ data and insight analyses, as well as SEG’s use of advanced price and promotion analytics to help further enhance marketing and merchandising activities.

“We’re always looking for new and innovative ways to enhance our franchise,” said Anthony Hucker, president and interim CEO of SEG. “We are eager to align our core business processes around IRI’s technology and leverage the real-time data and insights to better connect with our customers, collaborate with our suppliers and increase sales.”

Southeastern Grocers is the parent company of Winn-Dixie, Bi-Lo, Harveys, and Fresco y Más grocery stores, employing more than 55,000 associates in stores throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina.
