Weis Markets Taps Logile to Streamline Labor Planning

1/5/2015

Weis Markets has implemented Enterprise Labor Planning software from Dallas-based service provider Logile Inc., in an effort to streamline in-store efficiencies and maximize the grocer's labor budget.

"Weis and other retailers … utilize our labor modeling software to 'operationalize' their new efficiencies," Rick Schlenker, Logile’s co-founder and SVP of sales and marketing, told Progressive Grocer, adding that the software enables retailers to perform a "what-if" analysis to "truly understand the impact on labor of changes made to work methods, technology, marketing, and store layout."

Schlenker noted that the implementation gives Weis and other retailers the opportunity to "select the industrial engineering services and software that best complements their existing labor investments and fits with their near and long-range roadmap for improving in-store efficiency and customer service."

“Our store associates teamed up with Logile’s industrial engineers to study the work, identify opportunities, and to model improvements that were then adopted and rolled out to all stores," said John Neuberger, VP of operational administration for Weis. "By using Logile’s labor planning software, we leverage the use of store characteristics, engineered labor standards, and product movement data to develop accurate labor budgets that are both transparent and supported by our store management teams.”

Sunbury, Pa.-based Weis Markets operates 163 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and West Virginia, employing more than 18,000 associates.
