Div. Pres Hucker Departing Giant-Landover

Anthony Hucker is resigning from his position as Giant-Landover division president as of Sept. 13. According to Carlisle, Pa.-based parent company Ahold USA, Hucker has chosen to pursue “another opportunity,” although it declined to say where he was going. Hucker joined the company from Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in October 2011.

Bhavdeep Singh, EVP of operations at Ahold USA, will run the Giant-Landover division on an interim basis until a permanent replacement is appointed.

The Landover, Md.-based division operates 169 supermarkets in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia under the Giant Food banner, employing about 20,000 associates.

Ahold USA, part of Amsterdam-based international food retailing group Ahold, supports four regional divisions – Stop & Shop New England, Stop & Shop New York Metro, Giant Landover and Giant Carlisle – that collectively operate almost 800 supermarkets with about 120,000 associates in 14 states and the District of Columbia, as well as e-grocer Peapod.
