Dominick's, ABC 7 Chicago Join Forces for Annual Holiday Food Drive
CHICAGO -- Dominick's Finer Foods here and ABC 7 Chicago are collaborating to help fight empty plates this holiday season by rolling out the food collection barrels and decking Depository Dollars near check-out counters for the annual Dominick's/ABC 7 Chicago Holiday Food Drive to benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
The goal of the eight-week event, which runs from Nov. 12 through Jan. 5, is to gain the equivalent of more than 1 million pounds of food. Last year, the food drive collected the equivalent of 828,699 pounds of food that benefited hungry men, women and children.
ABC 7 meteorologist Tracy Butler will help focus attention on the critical need to help fight hunger, with live reports and weathercasts from three area Dominick's stores on Tuesday, December 4.
