Dr. Praeger’s Sensible Foods, a family-owned manufacturer of better-for-you frozen foods, has named Larry Praeger CEO and Adam Somberg president. Praeger, formerly VP and a 14-year veteran of the Elwood Park, N.J.-based company, succeeds his father, Peter, Dr. Praeger’s founder, CEO and president until his death in September 2012.
“Under [my father’s] leadership and pioneering vision, Dr. Praeger’s became a respected national brand,” said Larry Praeger (right), adding that he and Somberg would “build on that history, while leading an incredibly talented team forward into the next generation of growth.”
Raised in the Business
“Larry and Adam literally grew up in the business,” added Dr. Eric Somberg, co-founder and chairman. “Their combined 22 years of experience, broad understanding of the natural foods industry, and strong leadership have prepared them well to drive Dr. Praeger’s future growth.”
Founded in 1994 by two practicing cardiac surgeons, Dr. Praeger’s has expanded from California veggie burgers to offer home-style veggie pancakes, breaded fish items and Littles, a children’s line. The company is a leader in the all-natural, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and kosher frozen food categories.
