    Eddie Basha Dies at 75

Arizona grocer “gave his heart and soul to Bashas’ Family of Stores”

Eddie Basha, Jr., chairman emeritus of Bashas’ Family of Stores, died Tuesday at age 75.

In a statement distributed to employees, Edward Basha III, president and CEO, said his father “always reinforced to us the importance of our members and giving back to our community. Some of his fondest times were being with Bashas’ members and customers, whether at the office, the Distribution Center or in the stores."

“During Eddie’s lifetime,” Basha continued, “he faced many challenges, the last few years being among the most challenging. But his desire to serve the people of the state he loved so well, and to take care of the members that he cared for so much, always gave him strength in the face of adversity.”

Sources say Basha's funeral will be held Saturday, April 6 at 10 a.m. at ASU Gammage in Tempe, Ariz.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Basha's memory to St. Vincent de Paul, The Salvation Army, First Things First, the Adelante Foundation, or to a charity of your choice.
