Enhance Deli Safety with New Audit Services

As more major recalls have been announced in recent weeks and as food safety remains a top-of-mind issue throughout the food chain, third-party audit and certification company SCS Global Services recently announced that it has expanded its food safety services for retailers, food companies and food producers.

Among its new offerings, the Emeryvile, Calif.-based SCS is providing certification against the Produce GAP’s Harmonized Initiative checklist. The audit is accepted by many grocers around the country. In addition, SCS is providing services for GlobalG.A.P. PSS assessments, a GFSI-accredited food safety and traceability standard for fruit and vegetable producers of U.S. and Canadian-grown crops. Retailers also can now receive services for “Option 2" GlobalG.A.P. audits for small producers seeking recognition under one group certificate and for multisite operations operating under a unified quality management system and internal auditing procedure.

The new services complement SCS’ wide-ranging food safety certification and auditing programs that encompass SQF, BRC and GMP, among others, and its extensive food safety training courses.

“When it comes to food safety, there’s no room for shortcuts. We guide clients step-by-step through the process, backed by high quality auditors and flexible scheduling,” remarks Chip Wood, director of business development for food and agriculture for SCS.
