Enterprise Mobility Solution Adoption Still Growing Despite Weak Economy

Consumer price checking was the most common use of self-service kiosks among those retailers attending Progressive Grocer's latest Webcast, "Enhancing the Customer Experience with Self-Service and Mobility Solutions,” held Feb. 25 and sponsored by Zebra Technologies and Motorola.

Just under 28 percent of retailer participants cited price checking as their primary use of kiosks, while 11.1 percent said they use kiosks for deli ordering, and another 11.1 percent deployed these systems to help shoppers locate products in the store. Some (5.6 percent) used them for pharmacy prescription information.

The Webcast, presented by PG Nonfoods/Tech Editor Joseph Tarnowski, Motorola Enterprise Mobility Business director of retail and hospitality Tom Moore and Zebra business development specialist Bill Taggart, covered the challenges and opportunities of enterprise mobility solutions, the use of which continues to increase in the face of a troubled economy.

It featured case studies of several retailers deploying mobility solutions -- such as sales reporting systems, fuel price optimization, and GPS-enabled mobile phones for tracking deliveries, and outlined some recommended steps for retailers looking to deploy mobility solutions.

The Webcast will be available in archived format for the next three months, and can be accessed at this link:
