Responding to consumer demand for a better understanding of where their food comes from, First Fruits Marketing of Washington recently launched the “Know Your Grower” campaign to provide a glimpse into the people behind First Fruits Marketing and the orchards they support.
The company provides retailers compelling POS materials, story bags and merchandise bins that tell the orchards’ stories through the eyes of workers who grow, care for, and harvest the crops. All materials feature actual employees discussing everything from the quality of the fruit and the quest for the best flavors and new varieties, to the programs that help support workers with housing, education and daycare. They also include QR codes leading to videos and more information about the orchards and causes they support.
First Fruits Marketing is a collaborative venture of Broetje Orchards, Columbia Valley Fruit and Congdon Orchards—companies committed to producing high quality fruit while balancing the demands of purpose, people, planet and profit. First Fruits Marketing donates 10 percent of profits to charitable causes, while Broetje Orchards donates 50 percent to 75 percent of profits each year to non-profit organizations that support the underserved.
“Not only does it fulfill a desire for consumers to know more about where their food is coming from, it also gives us a chance to put the spotlight on our best asset—our workers,” noted Andy Tudor, First Fruits’ marketing director.
