Fisher Foods Ties Loyalty Program to Airline Miles, Community Programs

Community-based independent Fishers Foods is launching a new shopper engagement program that ties its loyalty program to community service initiatives and reinforces its “Shop Fresh, Shop Local” message.

The program, powered by Troy, Mich.-based Market Basket Rewards, uses shopper metrics and targeted marketing techniques to build sales and enable philanthropy. “We will use ‘Fishers Rewards’ to tie to the programs we have always had within our community, along with new and exciting opportunities for schools, churches and other charitable organizations,” said Jeff Fisher, president of North Canton, Ohio-based Fishers.

As a locally based company, food dollars spent at Fishers go back into the Stark County community in the form of jobs, local vendor support and donations to locally based charitable organizations. In addition, Fishers has teamed up with the award-winning Akron Canton Regional Airport and AirTran Airways to support and promote the local travel hub. Shoppers who register their Fishers Rewards cards are entered to win free round-trip tickets on AirTran Airways. They can then redeem their points for AirTran Airways rewards, and gift cards from Fishers as well as other popular retailers such as Borders, Best Buy and iTunes.

Fishers operates seven locations in Ohio and offers both traditional and specialty products, in addition to services including home delivery and the Loretta Paquanini School of Cooking.

Market Basket Rewards was created to empower independent grocery retailers through the synergy of seamless data acquisition, shopper communication tools and value-driven loyalty programs.
