Food Lion has signed on as the presenting sponsor of the Holiday Caravan Parade through 2014. The annual parade, which this year will take place Nov. 21, draws as many as 100,000 people to the main streets of Spencer and Salisbury, N.C.
The Delhaize America division’s “financial support will help offset the expenses associated with having a quality parade,” said Timothy Livengood, general chairman of this year’s parade, who added that the Salisbury-based grocery chain has supported the parade for several years and has historically been its largest contributor.
Livengood further noted that the Holiday Caravan, which is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, and its marketing partner, Pearson DeBoer Creative Solutions in Salisbury, were actively seeking other corporate sponsors and parade entries to help fund the event, which costs $35,000 to $50,000 to produce each year.
Begun in 1952 and known as “The Carolinas’ Loveliest and Liveliest Holiday Parade,” the Holiday Caravan Parade has been produced by a volunteer board since its inception.
