Delhaize-owned Food Lion LLC is piloting a Web-based product compliance and safety software solution developed to quickly alert key staff up and down the supply chain is a food safety issue occurs.
The grocer is working with Delta Technology & Software LLC’s Alert software. “As an organization, Food Lion is very focused on food safety and quality,” said Stephen Tracey, food safety manager for supply chain at Food Lion. “The Alert software will allow us to keep our supply chain informed quickly so that our staff, the labs, and suppliers are constantly updated on potential quality and compliance issues.
“During Q1, we’re piloting Alert to see if the solution is compatible with our ongoing efforts to upgrade our supply chain food safety and quality programs. Traditionally grocers like ourselves had to rely on paper based systems which can be time consuming and prone to error. If Alert is successful, we will roll it out and test other products from different vendors.”
The Alert solution, developed in 2005, is a compliance management solution developed to mitigate the corporate risk associated with consumer products.
Food Lion operates more than 1,300 supermarkets, either directly or through affiliated entities, under the names of Food Lion, Bloom, Bottom Dollar Food, Harveys and Reid’s in 11 Southeast and Mid-Atlantic states.
