Food Lion Ups Harrison to CIO for Delhaize Group U.S.

Scott Harrison, Food Lion LLC’s SVP of technology and efficiency and CIO, has been promoted to the newly created CIO post for Delhaize Group U.S. In his new role, Harrison will work closely with Delhaize’s U.S.-based subsidiaries -- Salisbury, N.C.-based Food Lion, LLC; Scarborough, Maine-based Hannaford; and Tampa, Fla.-based Sweetbay Supermarket -- to ensure the fulfillment of the company’s IT strategic and operational needs. Reporting to Terry Morgan, Delhaize Group’s global CIO, Harrison will also oversee IT Shared Services, which includes Supply Chain Solutions and IT Infrastructure for Delhaize’s U.S. companies.

“Scott has an unmatched depth and breadth of knowledge about the supermarket business,” said Morgan, noting that the multi-banner chain will benefit greatly from “his expertise in technology to develop innovative systems and solutions to benefit the entire Delhaize Group infrastructure.”

Beginning his career at Hannaford in 1982 with roles in retail, procurement and cost management, Harrison joined Food Lion, LLC in 2000 and was promoted to the SVP role in 2007.

The Brussels-based Delhaize Group operates in seven countries on three continents. At the end of the third quarter of 2008, the conglomerate’s network consisted of 2,630 stores.
