FoodLink Adds Produce Market Pricing to Platform

FoodLink, the commerce and traceability platform developed to connect fresh food retailers and wholesalers to a network of over 2,000 growers, packers and shippers, has introduced FoodLink MarketView, a new feature on the network that provides direct access to fresh produce pricing information from the USDA and other sources.

FoodLink MarketView is a web-based service that provides access to past and present produce market pricing information. Initially, MarketView includes data from the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service shipping and terminal market reports. Additional data sources will be added over time. The information is organized by commodity and presented in easily exported graph and table formats.

“We know that there is a lot of great market data out there, but it is not always easy to find or use, especially in a fast-moving market like fresh produce,” said Kevin Brooks, CMO, Los Gatos, Calif.-based FoodLink. “With FoodLink MarketView, we’re offering a simple way for suppliers to access up-to-date information about market pricing and trends, and put it to use directly over the FoodLink network.”

An annual subscription to FoodLink MarketView provides unlimited access for all registered FoodLink users at a subscribing company. The data covers more than 300 major items, including produce department standards such as apples, bananas, blueberries, strawberries, lettuce, potatoes and tomatoes. Data is updated in real time, and can be viewed online, or downloaded and emailed for offline analysis.

MarketView is available as an add-on annual subscription for any registered FoodLink supplier. Current FoodLink customers can access MarketView through their Deal Manager home page. Click here to register for a free FoodLink profile,
