AVENEL, N.J. -- Foodtown, Inc. here said it has promoted Kostanty "Gus" Lebiak, director of grocery merchandising, to the newly created position of v.p.-center store, effective Jan. 1.
The grocer appointed Lebiak to the new position "because of his outstanding merchandising skills and profound understanding of the grocery industry," said Foodtown president and c.o.o. William J. Donahoe in a statement.
A food industry veteran of over 25 years, Lebiak has been with Foodtown since the company began operations in 1999. Starting as a category manager, he became director-grocery in 2000, director-grocery/frozen in 2005, and director-grocery/frozen/GM/HBC in 2006. Before joining Foodtown, he worked at Mayfair Supermarkets and Twin County Grocers.
Foodtown is a cooperative whose members independently own and operate over 66 stores in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Florida.
