LAS VEGAS -- Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market opened five stores here yesterday, in a second spurt of openings after it unveiled its first six stores in Southern California last week.
Its stores here are at Tropicana & Durango, Tropicana & Jones, Lake Mead & Del Webb, Bermuda & Silverado Ranch, and Warm Springs & Eastern.
Fresh & Easy has revealed plans for 122 stores to date, with 50 scheduled to open by the end of February 2008 in Southern California, Phoenix and Las Vegas. The Tesco subsidiary said it plans to open 200 stores by the end of next year.
"Fresh & Easy stores have been remarkably well-received by customers in Southern California and we are confident the reception will be the same here," said Tim Mason, Fresh & Easy c.e.o., of the Las Vegas openings.
Fresh & Easy said it has committed to build LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified buildings, recycle or reuse all shipping and display materials and use environmentally friendly trailers to transport food. The company also invested in California's largest solar roof installation on its distribution center in Riverside.
Fresh & Easy will also open stores in San Diego and Phoenix by the end of the year.
