Fresh & Easy Opens Second San Francisco Store

Tesco-owned Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market has opened its second San Francisco store in the underserved Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood.

“We’ve worked hard to create a thoughtful business built on a simple belief: everyone deserves fresh, wholesome food at affordable prices regardless of where they live, said Fresh & Easy CEO Tim Mason. “The City of San Francisco was a fantastic partner in getting this store built, staffed and opened.”

San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee and Board of Supervisors president David Chiu joined Fresh & Easy’s executive board, and dozens of neighborhood leaders in opening the store, the first new grocery store to open in the neighborhood in more than 20 years. .

“I made a commitment to the community to improve Bayview-Hunters Point and make it a place that is safe and healthy for families,” said Mayor Lee. “This project is a cornerstone in our broader efforts to revitalize the neighborhood by bringing healthy food, vibrant businesses, and new shoppers to Third Street.”

According to Fresh & Easy, the Bayview is traditionally an underserved neighborhood, where about 36,000 people are without access to fresh fruits and vegetables because of lack of supermarkets in the area.

Fresh & Easy operates 177 stores in California, Arizona and Nevada.
