Rumors that former 7-Eleven CEO Jim Keyes has taken the helm of Fresh & Easy Marketplace are just that – rumors, according to the grocer.
"There has not been an announcement regarding management at Fresh & Easy,” Brendan Wonnacott, director of neighborhood affairs for Fresh & Easy told Progressive Grocer. “Any reports indicating otherwise are speculation."
There has been much discussion as to how the failed Tesco experiment will be reinvented once private equity firm Yucaipa closes its deal to buy the company, with some industry experts saying it will never work, while others saying it just needs the right leadership to leverage its existing assets.
According to Fresh & Easy, the company’s assets include a world-class infrastructure designed to facilitate the manufacture and distribution of high-quality, fresh products. This capability gives Fresh & Easy the ability to provide the highest level of freshness and convenience available.
Calls to Yucaipa were not returned by presstime.
