The Fresh Market’s first store in Maryland’s Montgomery County will be located within Congressional Plaza, a 332,000-square-foot shopping center in Rockville. The Greensboro, N.C.-based grocer will operate a 19,860-square-foot location slated to open either late in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2011 or early in the first quarter of fiscal 2012.
“The addition of a new specialty grocer further solidifies Congressional Plaza as the dominant shopping center on Rockville Pike,” noted Chris Weilminster, SVP of leasing for Rockville-based Federal Realty Investment Trust, the redeveloper of the shopping center.
The new location’s amenities will include a bakery offering 30 breads and 14 kinds of pie daily, a full-service meat counter, a broad assortment of ready-to-serve entrées, fresh seafood, a produce department with a large organic selection, and more than 200 imported and domestic cheeses. The store will also carry a full selection of bulk items such as coffee, candy and snacks.
