General Mills Rolls Out Cancer Awareness Program for In-Store Bakeries

MINNEAPOLIS -- General Mills Bakeries & Foodservice based here has launched a new turnkey merchandising program for in-store bakery managers to execute during breast cancer awareness month.

For the promotion, The Power of Pink, General Mills' bakery group will provide bakery managers with a merchandising kit to create an in-store event. Tools include "Making Someday Sooner" shelf wobblers and peel-off stickers for use on participating bakery items.

The point of sale items inform consumers about the importance of continued breast cancer research, and of General Mills' commitment to the cause. A counter card with tear pad will give consumers steps they can take to support the fight against breast cancer in their everyday lives.

To kick off the promotion, General Mills Bakeries & Foodservice said it will donate $20,000 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, an organization dedicated to preventing breast cancer and finding a cure in our lifetime by funding clinical and genetic research worldwide.
