This year’s holiday season is bound to take on a distinctly Southern accent as Paula Deen Collection spices manufactured and distributed by Quality Food Brands roll out to stores. Retailing for a suggested $1.29 to $1.99, the celebrity chef’s line will initially consist of six custom-blended spice varieties in adjustable-grinder-top bottles ranging in size from 1.8 ounces to 3.15 ounces: Sea Salt, Black Peppercorns, Garlic Sea Salt, Poultry Seasoning, Onion Sea Salt, and Cinnamon Essence. “As we head to the first quarter of 2010, we anticipate that over 50,000 outlets will carry the Paula Deen spice lines,” noted Richard Cohen, president of Monroe, Mich.-based Quality, a wholly owned subsidiary of Synergy Brands, which is headquartered in Chicago. Quality’s other offerings include products old under such proprietary brands as Loretta, Country Value and Gourmet Select, in addition to private label items.
