    Giant-Carlisle Hires V.P. of Construction & Engineering

    Set to succeed retiring v.p. for construction Thom McIntosh, Steve Lamontagne has over 20 years of management experience in supermarket store development.

    Giant Food Stores, LLC has hired Steve Lamontagne to be its v.p. of construction and engineering. In his new role Lamontagne will handle store planning and design, construction, engineering, maintenance, and energy management. Reporting to s.v.p. for real estate and construction Gerry Adams, Lamontagne will work closely with outgoing v.p. for construction Thom McIntosh.

    "[Lamontagne's] position is a new one, but [he] will eventually replace Thom McIntosh after he retires later this year," Giant Food spokeswoman Tracy Pawelski explained to Progressive Grocer.

    With over 20 years of management experience in supermarket store development, Lamontagne most recently served as v.p., store planning, formats & managing director of design services group for Eden Prairie, Minn.-based Supervalu, Inc. Other grocers he has worked for are Albertsons, Shaw's, Grand Union, and Almacs Supermarkets, Inc.

    Lamontagne is moving to central Pennsylvania with his family.

    Ahold USA-owned Giant Food operates stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia under the Giant Food Stores, Martin's Food Markets, and FoodSource banners.
