    Giant-Carlisle/Martin's Grow Exclusive Guaranteed Value Brand

    The low-price line's offerings will more than double, with the inclusion of such new products as perishables.

    Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets are rolling out new products under their Guaranteed Value line of popular household products. The number of items offered under the line is slated to grow from about 50 to 140 by October.

    "We understand that family budgets are strained," said Giant Food v.p. for advertising and marketing Denny Hopkins. "Building upon our tradition of low prices every day, our Guaranteed Value product line is growing to include a greater variety of items commonly found on our customers' weekly shopping lists. Customers won't have to wait for these products to go on sale because they can expect to pay the same low price, which averages 20 percent to 25 percent less than similar national brands, for Guaranteed Value products every time they shop."

    The line, identifiable by its distinctive yellow, blue and red label, includes cleaners, laundry detergents, paper products, and trash bags, foot powder, toothbrushes, cat litter, and pet food. Among the new items to roll out are paper towels, brownie mix, beans and franks, honey graham crackers, clear bandages, and popcorn, and in September the brand will begin offering such perishable products as dairy, meat, and produce varieties.

    Giant Food operates stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia under the Giant Food, Martin's Food Markets, and FoodSource banners.
