Giant Eagle Launches New 'Low Price Lock'

Campaign to help customers save on seasonal celebration items

Giant Eagle has launched a new Low Price Lock program to help shoppers save money on hundreds of popular items for their upcoming warm-weather celebrations, such as graduations and Memorial Day.

Offered for a limited time through spring and summer, the campaign "provides customers with assurance that they won’t have to scale back on these festivities," Pittsburgh-based Giant Eagle announced. "Prices of the designated items will remain constant, even if product and commodity costs increase."

The new Low Price Lock item list includes popular backyard barbecue brands like Sugardale and Eckrich, as well as other national brands such as Dannon and Gatorade. Giant Eagle brand products from across the store are also locked.

Examples of newly introduced items in the seasonal Low Price Lock include:

    - Sugardale hot dogs, 3-pound pack, $3.99

    - Fresh mangos, 10 for $10

    - Eckrich Skinless Smoked Sausage, 14-ounce pack, two for $5

    - Valu Time foam plates, 40 count, 99 cents

    - Vlasic Kosher Dill Pickles, 80-ounce jar, $2.99

Additionally, the prices of many nonfood items have been locked. Giant Eagle pharmacy offerings include free prenatal vitamins and $4 and $10 pet medications as part of the Low Price Lock; also included are the Net10 LG800 mobile phone and a $50 Fandango gift card for $42.

This campaign follows Giant Eagle's recent reduction of hundreds of everyday prices, which the retailer said delivers $70 million in customer savings.
